Shel Silverstein

If you are a dreamer, come in

If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,

a hope-er a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...

If you are a pretender, come sit by my fire

For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.

Come in! Come in!

The Muse and I...

Ode to my Muse.
He is always bugging me, he is always stuffing my head with new idea's despite the fact that I'm still working on the last one he gave me. He is constantly complaining that I'm too slow in jolting down his idea's, he keeps threatening to be someone else's muse (I wish) if I don't hurry up.
But I wouldn't have it any other way...Okay major lie I would so have it many other ways.

Dear Muse,
I appreciate the ideas and all but you should just be happy that I write them down in my idea book, do I have to write and elaborate story about them right now?! I still have to finish Millvalley...how about some idea's for Millvalley?!!

Sincerely
The person you annoy.

My Muse however does not answer any questions he just whispers sweet nothings in my ear and throws a tantrum when I ignore him. As much as I complain about his nagging I think we're a perfect couple. A creative team to be reckoned with...so long as you don't mind that half of the team is imaginary.

As of late my Muse paid me a special visit, he came to me on the 14th and told me that he could see I was busy trying to edit Devil's Helmet and finish writing Millvally while trying to find a way to start two new stories but he really had to tell me about this idea he'd gotten for a movie.
So being the soft-hearted-can't-say-no-er that I am I listened to him and him being the charming-intelligent-idealistic-sweet-talking-Muse convinced me to write a fantastical screenplay.
So now that you understand the relationship between me and my Muse and my inability to say no to him I think it's safe to say that I will have a new project on this blog--so much for keeping it to minimal confusion.

Way too much to write in so little time...and loving it!

Xoxo

  2. Hear hear!

That's exactly how my muse works too. The newest idea always seems the best.

If I wait long enough, I come back around to the "old" ones.

  3. First things first - i think your blog is THE MOST beautiful blog i have ever seen. Totes.

I hear that with the muse, though mine is often drunk and doesn't make a lot of coherent sense.

How did you know your Muse is a "he"? Just curious because mine is a "she", though, to be fair, i don't know how i know that...

  4. Great post!

you should check out Ray Bradbury's Zen of writing - he's got excellent essay (which probably get online) about feeding the muse. Not really a 'how to' piece but still good.

  10. Nice blog! Thanks for the follow. Glad I found you. As for your muse..he sounds like he may need some Ritalin! Mine's learned to pipe down. It won't let me start a new project before I finish the old, even if my head is swimming with ideas for the next WIP. Maybe my muse has OCD!
