Concerning Millvalley

I've decided to start a blog series for writing tips and how they apply to my writing, how they can help you. One thing you need to know is I'm not a structured writer and my methods may not work for everyone but trust me when I say they make for stress-free writing.



Lesson one.
Familiarity.

Some people think familiarity with a story/plot/character is a good thing, not always. In the case of Millvalley it isn't. I've been writing Millvalley since I was 12 so you can guess how familiar I am with it and that is really bad. Sometimes when I'm writing, old ideas that I had decided against keep find there way onto the pages of Millvalley along with a tacky writing style that I've struggled to mend. It seems like I cannot convert this story to my present day brilliance!


Needless to say this is very offputting and irritating, some have suggested that I just drop Millvalley all together, after hearing how perfectly wonderful my new stories are .
I have a charming habit of not listening to people when I don't like what their saying, so Millvalley still lives today...but I got brilliant idea from everyone's insisting I end it; a sure fire way of perfection.
I'm going to turn Millvalley into one of my new stories, pretend as if I just got the idea yesterday and have just begun to write it. How you ask?


By changing it so drastically that I have no familiarity with it at all, it's a completely new story with the same plot the same places the same characters yet completely different.
Allow me to introduce the new and improved Millvalley set in the charming Napoleonic era. (Apposed to 2012. Big leap huh?)
I think it shall be more magical a lot more fun to write and utterly intriguing. So to wrap up this lesson, if you're annoyingly familiar with something it might be time to reintroduce yourselves.

Wolfman!

I'm sure you've all seen the intense trailer for Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt; every time I see them I say to myself 'that looks really cool! I have to see that movie!'. However I am not one to go see movies on there opening nights because long lines and crowded theaters make a movie not so enjoyable. I know it's insane but I believe everyone in the room is sucking up all the air!! Okay just kidding but for some reason in a crowded theater people are more inclined to talk to each other...did you notice that too or was is it just me??


So I didn't go to see Wolfman on opening night or on the week ends because I had V-day plans but now I've been hearing some terrible reviews about this movie having a terrible story line despite good acting and good visuals.
I like good acting and good visuals but I also like a good story line too *dilemma* the weekend is coming up and I haven't decided yet if I should go see how bad/good this movie is for myself or wait for DVD...I really hate waiting.
So if any of you have seen Wolfman I would really like your advice and answer to my very pressing questions, here goes.
Did you like it? All in all was it worth the money? or would you shout warnings to whoever even thought about entering the theater on the Wolfman's behalf? And was Benicio Del Toro hot??!!

I would totally love some feedback and be utterly grateful; this not knowing is killing me!!

What happens after biology???

So for one extremely boring month I've been reading one long and boring book of biology for my high school studies. But I'm almost finished with this time absorbing book. I can almost see myself racing past the last page, where I won't have to read another word about insects, molecular structure and vital organs!!


I plan on rewarding myself by not thinking about blood cells, white or red. It's not that I don't appreciate them, I just liked it better when they were hidden out of view, behind a thick layer of my skin and not in plain sight under a really clear microscope. I will not bother to confuse myself with genes and how many I got from which parent.

So next I will be indulging myself in the "decadent pleasure" of reading World History from B.C onward... FUN right? Not so much, but I'd take Romans and Greeks fighting each other over a wooden horse above biology any day of the year. Maybe I'll find something interesting to base a story around.


Hopefully I wont be so completely buried by reading that I will have no time to write! *waking nightmare*
I know I promised you guys some juicy excerpts from my latest story Devil's Helmet but I've been getting some mixed reviews from my reading squad so excerpts will have to wait. I'll tell you all about it in more detail later; don't want to make this post too long and homework is calling.

The Muse and I...

Ode to my Muse.
He is always bugging me, he is always stuffing my head with new idea's despite the fact that I'm still working on the last one he gave me. He is constantly complaining that I'm too slow in jolting down his idea's, he keeps threatening to be someone else's muse (I wish) if I don't hurry up.
But I wouldn't have it any other way...Okay major lie I would so have it many other ways.


Dear Muse,
I appreciate the ideas and all but you should just be happy that I write them down in my idea book, do I have to write and elaborate story about them right now?! I still have to finish Millvalley...how about some idea's for Millvalley?!!

My Muse however does not answer any questions he just whispers sweet nothings in my ear and throws a tantrum when I ignore him. As much as I complain about his nagging I think we're a perfect couple. A creative team to be reckoned with...so long as you don't mind that half of the team is imaginary.


As of late my Muse paid me a special visit, he came to me on the 14th and told me that he could see I was busy trying to edit Devil's Helmet and finish writing Millvally while trying to find a way to start two new stories but he really had to tell me about this idea he'd gotten for a movie.
So being the soft-hearted-can't-say-no-er that I am I listened to him and him being the charming-intelligent-idealistic-sweet-talking-Muse convinced me to write a fantastical screenplay.
So now that you understand the relationship between me and my Muse and my inability to say no to him I think it's safe to say that I will have a new project on this blog--so much for keeping it to minimal confusion.

Way too much to write in so little time...and loving it!

Breathe!

Aw the New Year, a chance to breathe after all those hectic holiday's.

It's time to relax, settle into the New year with all those resolution you know your not going to keep the moment you write them down. Time to sit out on your porch in the chill morning air, a nice cup of french blend coffee in one hand and a chocolate covered croissant in the other; a pen tucked behind your ear and a notepad on your lap. All the time in the world to do what ever you want to....
Did anyone have that kind of a New Year?!



Or was your New Year exactly like mine? Rush, rush, rush and just in case you didn't catch it the first three times RUSH! Christmas is over time to clean up the mess, its the New Year here is list of all the new things we're going to do and they have to be done immediately; don't ask me why! but they do!!
I barely managed to get an hour in to write my story, I barely managed to snag a computer to write this post. Not to mention my sis and I have blog together (we started the blog to document your journey into movie making...we haven't made any movies yet) and she is now starting college so I have to take care of the blog almost by myself. I realize recently that I know too many people who own a blog and want me to contribute! My poor fingers can only type so much!
Majorly STRESSED!


Phew!
After the first two weeks of the year people around me finally started to see things the way I do. It's just another year not the end of the world, things don't have to be done within the first month....at last things have settled and I now have some breathing room...and writing space.
That was a close one. So for the sake of keeping this blog post short I'll get to the moral of the story. "Don't have a heart attack with all this rushing!!"

P.S how is your New Year going?

New Year's Eve.

It's New Years Eve so you can guess I won't be writing. I'm going to stay up with the fam all night, watch way too many movies and countdown at midnight. Not to mention that New years Eve will be a blue moon, so this moon fanatic will be standing outside wishing she had a telescope.
And I'll probably watch the Rose Parade if I managed to peel myself out of bed sometime before noon :D
